Umut Güden
I design, build, and manage products people use every day.
Background
I wrote my first line of code at eleven, during the COVID-19 lockdown in March 2020. That same year, I founded an organisation called HMD Developments. The idea was straightforward: build software properly, charge fairly, and never cut corners. That principle still governs everything the company produces today.
What started as a technology operation outgrew its original shape quickly. I found myself just as interested in how money moves, how music reaches people, and how deals get made as I was in writing code. So in 2022, I established HMD Corporation as a holding company headquartered in London and brought HMD Developments under it as the technology subsidiary. The goal was to give each of those interests its own division, its own team, and room to operate independently.
HMD Developments remains the foundation. It is an incorporated entity with its own engineering team, delivering enterprise software across web, mobile, AI, and cloud infrastructure on a selective, premium basis. The work it does for clients is not shown here. That belongs to its own portfolio.
On the finance side, I built HMD Payments before the holding company was even officially incorporated. It processes cryptocurrency, IBAN, and card transactions on a zero-fee model with instant cross-platform verification. It was acquired early and continues to operate as HMD Pay, forming the backbone of how HMD Corporation handles its own payment infrastructure as well.
The entertainment division grew from personal connections in music. What began as relationships with artists and labels turned into a structured operation spanning record labels, music distribution, artist management, marketing, and home entertainment. HMD Entertainment exists to maximise what artists earn whilst building a reusable ecosystem that benefits everyone involved, not just the company.
HMD Commercial is the newest arm: consultancy, business development, strategic advisory, and deal-making across every sector we touch. It gives the corporation a way to participate in opportunities that do not fit neatly into technology, finance, or entertainment alone.
Today I operate more as an orchestrator than an operator. Each division is staffed by capable people who own their work and make their own decisions. I set direction, remove obstacles, and stay out of the way. Making money was never the point. I have always worked on what I want, with whom I want. HMD Corporation does not chase volume. Its projects are few, private by design, and built for quality over visibility. The only things published on this site are personal projects, conceived and built by me independently of the corporation.
